Irazú Volcano Tours – Costa Rica
Irazú Volcano is one of the most visited volcanoes in Costa Rica, with a height of 3,432 meters (11,260 feet) above sea level.
Irazú Volcano is an active volcano located in the province of Cartago, about 45 minutes from San José. Irazú Volcano National Park was created in July 1955.
Its name may come from Iztarú (Hill of Tremors and Thunder), the name of an indigenous village on the slopes of the volcano. Irazú Volcano has caused catastrophes in the past. Irazú Volcano’s most eruptive period was between 1963 and 1965, eruptive activity occurred continuously from March 1963 to February 1965.On a clear day, you can sometimes see the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans from there. Of course, it’s rare to find such clear days. The volcano’s summit is usually covered in clouds. It’s worth mentioning that the weather at Irazu Volcano can be very cold, so it’s recommended that you bring a warm jacket.
